Authorities on Thursday identified the man who was fatally shot late at night over the weekend in north Minneapolis.

Gavin S. Spieker was shot multiple times, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office. No arrests have been announced.

ShotSpotter technology detected the gunfire about 12:15 a.m. Sunday near 31st and Colfax avenues N., police said. Spieker lived about 1¾ miles north of where he was shot.

When officers arrived, they found Spieker lying wounded in the street.

Officers tended to his wounds until paramedics arrived and took him to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where he died that same day.

In pursuit of any suspects, "investigators are talking to witnesses and examining evidence," police Sgt. Catherine Michal said Thursday afternoon.
