Daniel R. Lagace was sentenced on Monday in Ramsey County District Court to 14 months in prison for providing alcohol to an underage woman who then caused a fatal car crash.

Lagace, 32, of Anoka, pleaded guilty to the felony charge in April.

According to the criminal complaint, cousins Tonya Rae Swanson and Jennifer Swanson drove from Oglivie, Minn., to Lagace's home after meeting Lagace and his friend, Joseph Hammack, on a telephone chat line.

The women drank wine coolers on the drive. When they arrived, Jennifer Swanson drove Lagace to a liquor store to buy a bottle of liquor.

After they returned, an argument ensued after Jennifer Swanson and Lagace had sex, and then she began "making out" with Hammack, the complaint said.

Jennifer Swanson "went storming to her vehicle but left her glasses behind," the document said. At the intersection of Hwy. 65 and 93rd Lane NE. in Blaine, Jennifer Swanson rear-ended a car at a red light. Bradley F. Lyver, 29, a passenger in that car, died.

Jennifer Swanson, 19, was sentenced in June in Anoka County District Court to four years in prison. Tonya Swanson, 31, was sentenced in Ramsey County District Court to 90 days in jail and up to five years' probation. District Judge Edward Wilson gave Lagace credit for four days he has spent in custody and fined him $100.
