A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to six years in prison for a shooting at a Minneapolis bar and a stabbing at a St. Louis Park gas station, according to the Hennepin County attorney's office.

Devon Strouss, 23, pleaded guilty last week to firing a gun at the 19 Bar in Loring Park and injuring two people on Oct. 15. He also admitted to stabbing another victim on Jan. 1. The two incidents were not related.

Hennepin County District Court Judge Hilary Caligiuri sentenced Strouss to two sentences of 36 months to be served consecutively for the bar shooting at the 19 Bar that injured two people. She also sentenced him to another 45 months to be served concurrently in the stabbing case.

Strouss, who was intoxicated, entered the 19 Bar with his dog and demanded service, the charges against him said. He became disruptive and was removed from the bar. During the scuffle, he pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the bar, hitting the manager and a customer.

The 19 Bar shooting mobilized the Loring Park neighborhood. Many residents and business owners submitted community impact statements about the shooting, and some were present at hearings to support the victims.

In the other incident, Strouss and his girlfriend tried to buy marijuana at a St. Louis Park gas station, the charges said. They approached a man inside and followed him to his car. While he was showing them the marijuana, Strouss grabbed the bag and tried to steal the drugs, leading to a fight. Strouss stabbed the other man twice with a knife. An employee intervened, tackling Strouss.
