Man's body found in burning car near Owatonna

The body was found in a car burning in a farm field.

An investigation is underway in Steele County after a man's body was found inside a burning vehicle near Owatonna in southern Minnesota.

The male victim was found around 6:30 p.m. Sunday after firefighters extinguished a fire burning a car in a farm field on the 2000 block of 52nd Avenue NW., west of Owatonna, said Steele County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Scott Hansen in a news release.

Neither the name of the victim nor the cause of death has been released.

The vehicle was a total loss, the Sheriff's Office said.
