A man got caught in the power mechanism of a piece of farm equipment north of the Twin Cities and was killed, authorities said.

The incident occurred late Wednesday morning on property along Hwy. 47, about 9 miles north of St. Francis, according to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency responders arrived and found the 71-year-old man's body, the Sheriff's Office said. He became caught in a power takeoff shaft of some farm equipment, a Sheriff's Office statement read. The fast-spinning shaft transfers power from a tractor to an attached implement.
