Minneapolis police were searching Thursday morning for a man who allegedly stabbed and killed another man during an altercation in the Phillips neighborhood late Wednesday, officials said.

The victim, whose name and age have not been released, was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was taken after an argument turned deadly, according to a police news release. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

Police said the victim was walking in the area of the 2400 block of Ogema Place about 9:41 p.m. Wednesday when he was apparently confronted another man. The two began to argue and the other man pulled a knife and stabbed the victim at least once, the release said. It's unclear what prompted the altercation.

No further details were immediately available.

It's at least the second fatal stabbing in the area in the past month. A woman was stabbed in the early morning hours of Aug. 16 in the area of Franklin Avenue and 4th Avenue South and later died in a hospital, police said.
