Patrol identifies man fatally hit while lying in busy north metro road

A man was run over by a car and killed while in a north metro intersection late at night, authorities said Sunday.

A man was run over by a car and killed while in a north metro intersection late at night, authorities said Sunday.

The incident occurred about 11:40 p.m. Saturday at University and 83rd avenues NE. in Fridley, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.

Steven Domino, 46, of Ham Lake, in a lane of southbound University when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old woman from Anoka, according to sheriff's detective Jim Schilling and the State Patrol. The pedestrian was dead at the scene, Schilling said.

The State Patrol said Domino was lying in the road when he was struck.

The driver, identified by the State Patrol as Sara M. Vanengen, 34, was checked out at a nearby hospital and released, Schilling added.
