A 36-year-old man arrested in northwestern Minnesota earlier this year on drug and weapons charges now faces an additional charge in a separate case after police found a high-powered rifle stashed in his south Minneapolis home, authorities said.

Jermaine Dequinte Henderson was charged Thursday with illegally possessing an M-4 .223 semi-automatic rifle, which was seized last March by police searching his home on Portland Avenue S., authorities said. Because of a previous felony conviction, Henderson is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

While examining the cellphone of another suspect in the case, authorities found photos and videos of Henderson toting the M-4 — a weapon similar to ones used by American forces overseas — and a magazine with a 100-round capacity.

He was arrested Tuesday on drug possession charges in a separate case out of Minneapolis, jail records show, then posted bond two days later.

He also is facing charges in connection with a drug and gun possession case in Becker County, authorities say. Henderson and a 24-year-old woman were arrested in Detroit Lakes, Minn., late last month after authorities raided a hotel room from which the pair had been selling heroin, according to reports.

Henderson was charged in that case with two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, one count of fifth-degree possession and illegally carrying a handgun.
