A Maple Grove man was convicted of murder this week for a fatal shooting at a Minneapolis gas station that wounded two others.
Following a two-week trial, a Hennepin County jury took about eight hours to find Ryedelle Reginald Loving, 23, guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder for the July 25, 2010, shooting at the Old Colony gas station at 1624 Washington Av. N. Gilbert Jordan was slain, while two others were wounded.
Loving is scheduled for sentencing Wednesday. The conviction carries an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors say the three victims were at the gas station just north of downtown when a car pulled up and parked at the pumps in front of theirs. After a few minutes, the car's driver left, but returned a short time later and fired shots at the men.
The trial was repeatedly postponed as Loving changed lawyers and argued that he fired in self-defense, prosecutors said.
