Sara Hayden, left, of Oak Park Heights, and Caitlin Nazer, of Somerset, Wis., got down to tasty business last week at Sara's Tipsy Pies, which Hayden runs out of the basement of the Marine on St. Croix General Store. Nazer watched intently as Hayden whipped up spritz cookies, rosettes, krumkake and other Scandinavian goodies for special holiday packages that are sold in stores and bakeries up and down the St. Croix River Valley. For the past three years, Hayden has found a niche by making alcohol-infused pies using her mother's recipes. Snickerdoodle cookies laced with beer, wine or whiskey are among her specialties.
