We're just getting started. The storm that brought snow to the South on Fridayand the East today is just the beginning of a cold, stormy weather pattern thatis likely to persist through at least the middle of December. This all has to do with two major weather elements. Currently, an overwhelmingamount of cold air has engulfed all of Canada and much of the northern part ofthe United States. In addition, Pacific storms are about to come charging intoCalifornia, something they haven't been doing for quite a while.

The first storm of the series will produce heavy snow in the Intermountain Weston Sunday into Monday. The Plains will feel the full fury of the storm onTuesday, complete with heavy snow and severe blowing and drifting.

The snow will be the dry, powdery type that will be easily blown about by thestrong winds that the storm produces. In other words, it's going to be ablizzard for some.

By the middle of the week, the Midwest and Northeast will be in the thick ofit. Around this time, another storm system will advance onshore in California, following a similar path across the nation.
