Lynx update: Minnesota (12-3) is on a five-game winning streak after beating Tulsa by 16 points on Friday. … Point guard Lindsay Whalen is averaging 20.1 points, six assists and shooting 56.9 percent the past eight games. … Seimone Augustus rejoined Whalen in the backcourt against the Shock after missing three games because of a sprained ankle. … Forward Rebekkah Brunson needs seven rebounds to become the franchise's all-time leader in that category.

Mercury update: Phoenix has lost to the Lynx three times already this season, by 20 and 32 points on the road and by 11 at home. … The Mercury (9-7) was on a three-game losing streak until its 90-84 victory at Los Angeles last Thursday behind guard Diana Taurasi's 32 points. She is averaging a league-high 22.2 points. … Brittney Griner, a 6-8 rookie center, has missed the past three games because of a knee injury. She was averaging 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds.
