Preview: The Lynx will be looking for an eighth consecutive victory to start the season, which would stand alone as the second-best start in franchise history. They will also be looking to finish 3-0 in the season series against the Mercury, which struggled out of the gate 0-4 and lost by 14 points Friday at Seattle. Still offensively potent, the Mercury ranks dead last in the league in defensive rating and ninth in opposition field-goal percentage. The Mercury is 0-3 on the road, including a 19-point loss on opening night at Target Center. Including last season's playoffs, the Lynx have won five straight games vs. the Mercury.

Players to watch: F Maya Moore was chosen the Western Conference player of the week Monday for the second time this season after she averaged 19 points, 4.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds in two games. She has posted a plus/minus rating of plus-20 or better in three straight games, including a plus-22 vs. Dallas Saturday, when she scored 13 points with six assists. G Lindsay Whalen is coming off an 11-point, eight-assist game vs. Dallas; it was her season high in assists. F Rebekkah Brunson is coming off her best game of the season, when she had 10 points and eight rebounds. Moore and Phoenix G Diana Taurasi are the only two players to rank in the top five in scoring and assists. Taurasi is averaging 20 points and 5.1 assists. G Penny Taylor is averaging 14.4 points; she had 25 points in the teams' last meeting.
