In the first nine games of the season, Jessica Adair has not played at all in three games, played a minute or under in three others before impressing coaches in the Lynx'78-75 loss to Indiana on Sunday at Target Center.

Even in that game, the 6-4, second-year center played only eight minutes but Adair had a career-high seven points and six rebounds against the Fever.

Her rebound basket gave the Lynx a 67-61 lead early in the fourth quarter before the Fever rallied with an 8-0 run.

She played a season-high 11 minutes against Tulsa and started when Taj McWilliams-Franklin slightly injured her foot in pregame warmups. She had four points against the Shock, but her other fours in the stat sheet were not so good: four fouls, four turnovers.

"I think Rebekkah [Brunson] is arguably the best post player [on the Lynx], especially right now," said Adair, who was cut in training camp last year then rejoined the Lynx the last week of the season. "And Taj is maybe the best ever. If I were not here picking up little things from them then I would be a fool.

"I am just trying to play good," Adair said. "Against Indiana, I came in last year and tried to prove myself and I think I am trying to do the same thing this year. This is my first year here and I just want to prove that I can play in the league."

Her only game last year was against Indiana on Aug. 22. In the Lynx's last game, she had five points and a team-high eight rebounds in 14 minutes. She did enough to get another invitation to training camp in May.

Adair, who graduated from George Washington, trained hard in the offseason and lost a lot of weight to be in better shape.

Los Angeles Sparks coach Jen Gillom, before L.A. played the Lynx in the season opener, told her players Minnesota was a 10-player team, dismissing Adair. Turns out that evaluation was a little premature.

LYNX DROP TO NO. 2

San Antonio (7-2) jumped to No. 1 in the wnba.com's power ratings this week, bumping the Lynx (6-3) who dropped to No. 2 after two weeks in the top spot.

With the key injuries Seattle and Los Angeles have, wnba.com said "the Western Conference could be San Antonio's for the taking."

For the Storm, Lauren Jackson is out with a left hip injury. L.A. is playing without Candace Parker, who has a torn meniscus in her right knee.
