Kevin Love returned to the Twin Cities before this morning's training-camp practice to have an MRI done on his right knee that swelled after Monday's practices

He was back in Mankato for the 5 p.m. practice and went through it and a session-ending scrimmage at full speed after the MRI exam showed only some inflammation in the knee.

"Not even minor, below minor," Love said. "Just a little bit of swelling and irritation. I woke today and didn't feel right."

He called the trip to the Twin Cities and the MRI "just a precautionary thing" and he practiced Tuesday while wearing a padded compression sleeve on his knee.

Love was asked tonight if the inflammation was due to him playing for much of the last two months with Team USA and three days of two-a-day practices here in Mankato.

"I was pretty sore, I don't know if I was more sore than other guys because of this summer," Love said. "We've been going hard. This is going to happen to some players and unfortunately it was me."

After this morning's session, Michael Beasley said he's not worried about Love's knee long term.

"I told him to sit down," Beasley said. "It's not big. He said he wasn't feeling comfortable. I told him, `We don't need you for training camp, we need you for 82 games. So I encouraged him to sit down. It might not be big. It might be just a bruise.

"We don't want to take that risk. He played a whole lot of ball this summer. I think he deserves to take an hour or two off. We need him for all 82 (games). We don't want anybody getting hurt in training camp. We need the whole team."

Darko Milicic said he expects to see Love back soon.

He was right.

"I talk to him, he says he will be fine," Milcic said "He's going to be back. I'm not worried about Kevin Love. It's training camp. It's important time for us so you don't want somebody playing through the pain too much. It's better for him right to take it slow if he has some pain in the knee."
