Love's marvelous month of March continues

Wolves star scores 40, grabs 19 boards

After tonight's game ended, somebody tweeted me. Shouldn't it be a little odd, the person said, that 40 and 19 feels almost routine at this point?

Well, yes.

Kent Youngblood here, for a final time tonight. I'm sure you've missed Jerry the past two nights. Rest assured: Jerry will be back in the saddle for the Boston game Friday.

But about that tweet. I have a confession to make. I can send a tweet. I can read a tweet. But I haven't figured out how to respond to a tweet yet. I'm old. So for you folks who occasionally tweet me: I'm not ignoring you. I'm just technically ignorant.

But yes. It is odd that a player can go off for 40 points -- 26 in the second half -- and 19 boards and you think, that's Love.

With that performance -- his third game this month with 40 or more (and he would have had 42 if a basket hadn't been taken away from him upon review ) Love is now averaging 31.3 points per game this month.

Tonight Love took a career-high 31 shots, but none were forced. He played every minute in the second half, and he had to. The Wolves just couldn't shake the Bobcats without him.

And the Wolves needed this victory, especially after last night's loss in Memphis. But that just makes Friday's game with Boston that much more important.

Here are some other impressions from tonight's game:

--I continue to admire the grit Luke Ridnour displays. He's hurting, but he just keeps playing. He was getting knocked around pretty good tonight and he still managed a season-high 14 assists with just two turnovers. He and Love played very well together tonight.

--Another yeoman's effort from Anthony Tolliver, who came off the bench to play some decent defense while picking up a double-double (11 points, 11 assists).

--Derrick Williams continues to struggle when it comes to finishing at the basket. He was 2-for-11 tonight with just two rebounds.

That's about it for now. Jerry will get back to you on Friday.
