Loring Lore walking tours: Sold out

Columnist James Lileks will host guided tours through historic Loring Park this summer. The tours are, unfortunately, sold out.

July 26, 2016 at 5:00PM

Join Star Tribune columnist James Lileks for a walking tour of Loring Park, an urban enclave that's risen and fallen — and risen again — with the fortunes of downtown. We'll look at some historic buildings, explain the stories behind the statue of Ole Bull — in a way, the Eric Clapton of the 19th century — and find history written on old stones. From the park's early days when it was home to a man whose name would be synonymous with immense wealth to the hidden murals to the churches, this short stroll will tell the stories of Loring Park. Is this where Mary Tyler Moore sat? Why yes it is. And more.

When: Noon. Thursdays July 28, Aug. 4, 11 and 18.

Tickets: $20

Distance: Less than one mile

Duration: About one hour

Where: Meet at Loring Park's Berger Fountain (aka the Dandelion Fountain) promptly at noon.

Please note that a limited number of tickets are available. Advance purchase is required. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate walk-ups.
