The message Friday was simple, heard both from coach John Torchetti and from players in the locker room.

Move on.

Or: Don't look back.

To look back would be painful, considering Thursday's defensively-challenged 7-4 loss in New Jersey. Torchetti and the team watched the film, then left it in the past. "We went over the film and went over our adjustments and know we can play a better game," Torchetti said. "We can bring a better effort as a team. And we're looking forward to tomorrow's game.''

They will have to play a lot better to end their recent difficulties at Xcel Energy Center.

But, Torchetti stressed, obsessing over what happened against the Devils isn't the way to go. "We can't sit here as a team and worry about when things go wrong," he said. "What's happening when things go right around here, too? We just have to handle situations better.''

Thursday the Devils scored two quick goals and the Wild was chasing the game the rest of the night.

"We were down 2-0, we got a goal back. We're back in the game and that's what it came down to. The third and fourth goals, we're back in control, had the puck and we have to do a better job with it and make sure we put it in better spots. And if we can't handle a play, or make a play, just eat the puck in that situation and battle from there. Don't just expose it.''

Here are some notes from today's practice:

--Torchetti promised lineup changes, but didn't get specific. But you can bet Thomas Vanek will be one of those changes. He was not a part of the line rushes during practice, so it's a good bet he will be a healthy scratch.

--Torchetti had Jordan Schroeder on a line with Mikael Granlund and Zach Parise in practice today. Why? "He has great speed," Torchetti said. "Zach has great speed. Granny has great speed. So good things can happen with a lot of speed. Just give it a look and see how it goes.''

--The line of Mikko Koivu, Jackson Zucker and Charlie Coyle remained intact in practice. Jarret Stoll was with Justin Fontaine and David Jones. Erik Haula was with Nino Niederreiter and Ryan Carter.

--Darcy Kuemper sustained an upper-body injury Thursday and is listed as day-to-day. The team recalled Stephen Michalek from Iowa for tomorrow's game, so that means Devan Dubnyk won't have to wait for an opportunity to redeem himself after getting pulled early against New Jersey.
