Steve Woodbury

Longtime local radio executive Steve "Woody" Woodbury announced Wednesday that he's retiring on Sept. 1 after 40 years in the business. Woodbury, currently the CEO of Northern Lights Broadcasting, which includes the adult-rock station 96.3 K-TWIN, has a long resume that includes stops at WCCO AM, WLTE FM, KFAN and 93X.

Sam Eliot Gagliardi will be promoted to senior vice president and general manager of Northern Lights, which is owned by the Pohlad family.

"Working with the Pohlad Companies has been a fantastic end to my career," Woodbury said. "I've loved the association and the friendships."

Woodbury, who will serve as a consultant for the next year, was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2011.
