November 11, 2009 at 8:25PM

The combination of the storm along the North Carolina coast and a massive areaof high pressure to the north will create an unusually long fetch of strong, northeasterly winds from the North Atlantic Ocean to the Middle Atlantic coastthrough Friday.Wind and waves will be able to gather tremendous momentum due to the 1,500-milefetch as it all gets funneled into the low-lying coastal areas from southernNew Jersey through the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The result will be widespread coastal flooding and tremendous beach erosionthrough Friday, as all that water gets shoved into the coast.
