Local task force to host Ebola food drive

February 21, 2015 at 3:06AM

The Minnesota African Task Force Against Ebola hosts a food drive for children orphaned by West Africa's Ebola crisis.

The event launches a larger campaign to address hunger and other issues in the aftermath of the deadly epidemic, which has waned in recent months. The task force, which partnered with the Minnesota Department of Health last fall on a local Ebola education campaign, is a joint effort by expatriate communities from three countries hardest hit by Ebola: Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The food drive is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center, at 5600 85th Av. N. The task force will ship nonperishable food collected through the drive to nonprofits working in West Africa.
