Based on audience reaction, every liberal atheist in the state must have showed up Saturday night at Mystic Lake Casino to worship Bill Maher who satisfied the sold-out crowd with nearly two hours of political humor.

Dressed in a black t-shirt and black pants, Maher was more casual - and more caustic - then he is on "Real Time With Bill Maher," still one of the most provocative and hilarious shows on TV. He dropped the F bomb numerous times and churned up the volume on his favorite targets - religion and Republicans.

Among the zingers:

"Mormons are like fight club. They dont' really talk about it."

"Teabaggers are the Republicans' inbred country cousins."

"Iowa republicans, or as I call them, children of the corn."

"Is John Boehner the speaker of the house or the mother of the bride?"

"Tim Pawlenty - or T-Paw as Minnesota's black person calls him..."

"Michelle Bachmann - for people who find Sarah Palin too intellectual."

Democrats didn't completely escape Maher's vision. Neither did Minnesotans. After an unprintable joke about John Edwards, Maher chided the audience for not giving him a healthier response.

"Hey, you didn't come to see Wayne Brady," he said before slipping into an accent straight out of "Fargo." 'Oh, no. Oh, my. What a potty mouth on that one.'"

Maher's performance is a reminder that he remains a great stand-up - and that his show is must viewing for anyone with a political appetite on either side of the fence.
