Greetings.

Well, here we are at Ohio Stadium for the second straight year. This is my second season covering this team, and I still haven't seen a few Big Ten Stadiums. Neither Michigan nor Michigan State, for example. Won't see Iowa's stadium till the end of this season. Haven't been to Indiana.

But, so far, I think this is the best road stadium I've seen so far. About 100,000 fans, and yet the stadium still feels tight and almost intimate. Much better than Penn State, for example.

Anyway, Dave Mona from the WCCO broadcast turned me onto an interesting stat. The Gophers are 120th -- dead last -- in number of plays per game (59.7 according to teamrankings.com). This, more than anything, speaks to the difficultly the Gophers have had sustaining drives. Of course, you can't read too much into the stat; it also indicates that when the offense does score, it does it quickly.

Still, perhaps just as interesting is that Ohio State is 110th in the nation in this category.

So what does that mean? You have two offenses that have struggled, two offenses that will be under the gun when the game starts today. It will be interesting to see which group responds.

Me? I'd like to see offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch move quarterback Adam Weber more, with things like a floating pocket or having Weber go on bootlegs. I would also like to see a lot of short catch-and-run routes to the running backs and to receivers over the middle. I also think the Gophers need to get Eric Decker involved early. Easier said than done considering the speed of the OSU secondary.

That's about it. Have fun watching the game.
