Live chat: Finally, time for Big Ten play

The 11-2 Gophers plow into the league slate with a pair of road games vs. Purdue and Maryland, a good early test.

Thirteen games into the season, we know Minnesota has the capability to steamroll lesser competition, to rally from deficits and poor starts and to grow as a unit. We also know the Gophers' rebounding remains a legitimate concern and doesn't really seem to be getting much better. What we don't know is how all of that will translate against Big Ten competition -- the 18-game segment of the year that matters the most, of course.

Can the Gophers overcome their weakness on the boards? Can they win more games on the road than a year ago? One season after winning the NIT, can Richard Pitino's bunch make the Big Dance for the first time in his head coaching career? And what to expect from these first two games?

Let's talk. Join me at noon for a full hour of all things Minnesota and Big Ten basketball, and whatever other pressing food, booze, life or Bigfoot queries you need to get off your chest. Happy New Year!

Randle was a strong candidate to play in the All-Star Game on Sunday, but was not chosen and will head to the beach instead.
