The Gophers lost 1-0 in the ninth inning to Alabama on Saturday.
The Gophers softball team's success this year has been because of several factors. Among those are, from left, Big Ten coach of year Jessica Allister, conference player of the year Kendyl Lindaman, Big Ten pitcher of the year Sara Groenewegen and team RBI leader Sydney Dwyer. After defeating Louisiana Tech 11-3 in the first game of the regional, Minnesota lost 1-0 Saturday to Alabama on a bases-loaded walk in the double-elimination tournament.

After a postponement for weather, the Gophers defeated Louisiana Tech 5-2 in the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament to meet Alabama again late Sunday afternoon. If the Gophers win, they will play host Alabama a third time for the region title Monday at a time yet to be determined. If they lose, their season is over.
