Linder's great sale

Linder's 50 percent off everything sale starts today at all flower mart locations

June 16, 2010 at 2:22PM

I've been a fan of Linder's 50 percent everything sales for many years. The sale starts today at all of its more than 50 flower marts. The sale usually continues for a week or two, depending on the location. Fresh plants are brought in daily, so if you don't see what you want today, head back.

Check here for the list of locations around around the Twin Cities. The main greenhouse in St. Paul on Larpenteur is not part of the sale.

Others have taken me to task about this sale, saying that only at 50 percent off are the prices finally competitive with Home Depot or Costco. Chances are that if you get most of your plants at Home Depot you will find Linder's overpriced. The difference is that you will find a better selection at Linders, better quality and a better guarantee. Linder's will replace any perennial for up to 2 years if you keep the receipt and what's left of the plant.

It's also part of shopping local. Linder's celebrates 100 years in 2010.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
