Letterman, the target of an enduring tabloid frenzy since last week, when he exposed a blackmailer trying to shake him down over affairs with women on his staff, has skewered notables from Bill Clinton to Mark Foley for their sexual indiscretions. "I mean, can you imagine," said Letterman, "if this happened to me how fast they'd have my ass out of here?"

Dave wasn't having liaisons with prostitutes, but did it never cross his mind that he just might get called out one day for pursuing employees much lower down the chain of command?
