I think it's wonderful that Minneapolis has decided to install more drinking fountains around the city. As a runner, I know that city fountains can be lifesavers on a hot, humid day. I am even willing to live with the price tag on the artistic versions, on one condition -- that the city allocate an equal amount of money to ensure that all of those not so artistic, but just as refreshing, fountains are in working order during the summer months. Currently, I know that this is not the case, at least for the two fountains along the Mississippi River near the Stone Arch Bridge. If Mayor R.T. Rybak truly wants more of us drinking city water, the fountains have to flow.
