Letter of the day: Bishop's action on Kennedy was high above his pay grade

Canon law is clear in the Catholic Church that the denial of the Eucharist should not be used to embarrass Catholics. The decision by the Rhode Island bishop to deny Rep. Patrick Kennedy communion is a travesty of justice under canon law. This is a decision for Pope Benedict, and not for some misguided cleric with a personal agenda. JAMES M. CAMPBELL, ST. PAUL
