I am very pleased that the Metropolitan Airports Commission is investing more than $2 million in new signage for our airport. I am also pleased that the terminals will now be referred to as "Terminal 1" and "Terminal 2." It is our duty to accommodate those who find names confusing.

We shouldn't stop here. I suggest that we start referring to St. Paul and Minneapolis as "City 1" and "City 2." (Although I'm more of a Minneapolis guy, I'm fine with St. Paul getting top billing. It is, after all, the capital city, and it will help its residents build their self-esteem.)

The Minnesota Twins can be referred to as "The Team." "Twins" suggests there is more than one. I'm sure many are disappointed when only one home team takes the field at the Metrodome.

There are many opportunities to serve the lowest common denominators of our society. After all, it is easier to throw money at a perceived problem than it is to educate the citizenry.
