The Twins have narrowed their search for a new radio voice to replace John Gordon, and Ryan Lefebvre is no longer in the mix.
Insiders viewed Lefebvre as the favorite to land the job. He worked on Twins radio and TV broadcasts for four years before spending the past 13 seasons doing Royals radio and TV.
Lefebvre, 40, interviewed for the Twins job last month and still has several strong ties to the organization, but the team gave him a courtesy call Tuesday to say they were moving in another direction. The Twins also have notified Class AAA Rochester radio broadcaster Josh Whetzel that he's no longer in the running.
Other known candidates include Kris Atteberry, a part of the Twins' current broadcast team, and Brewers broadcaster Cory Provus.
Andy Price, the Twins senior director of broadcasting and game presentation, declined to discuss specific candidates but said the hire could be made within a week.
