Minnesota parks have more events devoted to hands-on experience.

Maple syruping events

Myre-Big Island State Park, 1-3 p.m. Saturday

• Get some hands-on experience. (1-507-379-3403, mndnr.gov)

Whitewater State Park, 10:30 a.m.-noon or 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday

• Learn the long history of maple syrup and sugar-making, as well as about the equipment and procedures. Participants will tap trees and gather and boil sap. Schools, Scouts, 4-H and other groups of 10 people or more can schedule an activity specifically for their group by calling 1-507-932-3007, ext. 226, or e-mailing sara.holger@state.mn.us. Wild River State Park, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday

• Learn the basics. Bring a lunch. Limit 35 participants per day. Registration required; call 651-583-2125, ext. 227. (mndnr.gov)

Fort Snelling State Park, 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday or ­Sunday

• No registration required. Meet at the visitor center. (612-725-2724, mndnr.gov)

French Regional Park, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday

• Cost is $6 for this program in Plymouth. There is a 20 percent discount for groups of four or more. Open to all ages; children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. (763-694-7750, ­threeriversparks.org)

Trail walk

Brown's Creek State Trail, 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday

Get outside for a guided walk and discover nature along the trail. Meet at the trailhead in Stillwater. (651-231-6968, mndnr.gov)

Easter hike

Lowry Nature Center, 1-4 p.m. Sunday

Discover hidden stops on a self-guided hike. Take photos of your finds and try to stump a naturalist. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. (763-694-7650, threeriversparks.org)

'Minnesota Stories in a Changing Climate'

Frontenac State Park, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday

See a screening of "Minnesota Stories in a Changing Climate," which documents six stories about communities and their response to climate change. There also will be a discussion facilitated by staff from Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy. The event is intended for families, students and educators. (651-345-3401, mndnr.gov)
