Snow continues to overspread the Northeast, leaving a general coating to aninch. A few places could measure close to 2 inches, but the impacts will remainthe same. Snow of this magnitude will be more of a nuisance to the region.Slower commutes and additional flight delays are expected.

The snow is ending in Philadelphia and New York City. The ripple effect fromflight delays that start today may lead to more problems at these cities'airports this afternoon, as well as other airports across the nation.

The storm delivering snow across the Northeast is preceding a fresh blast ofarctic air. As this incoming cold air flows over the relatively milder GreatLakes, more lake-effect snow will develop. The above graphic displays how muchlake-effect snow will stream downwind of the Great Lakes through tonight. Moresnow will add to these totals on Saturday.

Lake-effect snow will lead to greater disruptions to travel. Motorists shouldprepare for treacherous, snow-covered roads. Visibility will also rapidly dropin heavier squalls or blowing snow.
