"The Laramie Project" has likely never been performed in a smaller town. The Edge Center for the Arts in Bigfork, Minn., will hold a reading of the landmark script about Matthew Shepard's death on Friday and Saturday this week. Bigfork, about 35 miles north of Grand Rapids, Minn., has 470 people. Aaron Gabriel, now a Twin Cities theater artist, hails from Bigfork and he is directing the performance. Cast members include Tod Petersen and Barbara Berlovitz from the Twin Cities and several community actors from Bigfork.

The Edge Center (Bigfork hails itself as being on the "Edge of the Wilderness"), has an art gallery and theater that opened in 2005. Patty Feld is the center's artistic director.
