More than two months after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel, former NBA star Lamar Odom has been released from the hospital.

Odom, who was released from the hospital Wednesday, will continue on his path to recovery at a new facility.

In a statement, Odom's maternal aunt JaNean Mercer and her family said, "It is with extreme gratitude and appreciation to ALL of you around the world … who have prayed without ceasing for Lamar, that we announce his transition to the next stage of his miraculous recovery at a new facility."

They added, "Lamar continues to make remarkable strides and we are asking that you continue to respect our privacy. Again we THANK ALL OF YOU GREATLY, your support has been paramount in helping to uplift us during these past few difficult months."

The 36-year-old was found unconscious at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada on Oct. 13, after checking in for what was intended to be a five-day, $75,000 binge with two working girls. Although brothel employees initially said that Odom had admitted to taking cocaine before arriving at the cathouse and had taken up to 10 herbal sexual enhancers, a subsequent investigation indicated that the former Los Angeles Laker, who's struggled with substance abuse in the past, may have taken cocaine while at the brothel.

While Odom's condition initially seemed dire, he began to rebound quickly and was said to be making "miraculous" progress. However, there were hiccups. In November, Odom's estranged wife, reality TV star Khloe Kardashian, told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that Odom is "really confused a lot," and "never asks" why he is in the hospital.

During an appearance at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Wednesday, Kardashian said that Odom is "doing amazing … Because it's not my story to tell, I try to respect that … I'm just there to support and care for him."
