The common winter ritual of heavy lake-effect snow and resulting localizeddisruption to motorists will play out through Monday as arctic cold continuesits southward dive over the Great Lakes.Through Sunday, additional snowfall of 3 to 6 inches will fall in corridorssouth and southeast of all five Lakes. And highest amounts will reach at leastone foot where bands of heavy snow tend to focus for the longest stretch oftime.

New snowfall of 6 to 12 inches will pile up in the wake of frequent heavybursts aimed from Rochester to Syracuse, New York.

Off Lake Erie, the line of fire for up to 1 foot of snow will aim for the I-90corridor from Buffalo to east of Cleveland.

Additional amounts just as high will also spill from heavy lake-effect clouds,crossing extreme southwestern Michigan into northwestern Indiana near SouthBend.

Western Ontario, Canada, will see heavy snow bands off Lake Huron.

Motorists south and southeast of the Great Lakes will experience a widevariation in driving conditions over short distances. At its worst, travel willbe difficult and hazardous.
