KSTP should be feeling extra special about themselves today with the announced of the national News and Documentary Emmys. The station will compete in the Regional Investigate Reporting category, going up against stations from San Francisco, Houston, Denver and Indianapolis.

The recognition is for "Prisoners Ride the Bus," reported by Bob McNaney. Props to producer Mike Maybay and assistant news director Sam Zeff who were also noted.

Leading the way was PBS with 37 nods. CBS had 31 - but they might be wishing they only had 30. That's because one of the nominees is Robert Halderman. Don't remember the name? He's the "48 Hours Mystery" producer whose currently serving jail time for trying to blackmail David Letterman.

Curiously enough, this marks the first year in a few decades that Letterman hasn't been nominated for an Emmy.
