Kris Dunn scored 27 points in his summer league debut but couldn't stop a Denver rally as the Nuggets beat the Timberwolves 88-82 on Friday in Las Vegas.

The No. 5 pick in June's draft, Dunn hit 10 of his 18 shots and added five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Tyus Jones had 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, and Adreian Payne had 17 points but hit just six of 20 shots.

Emmanuel Mudiay led Denver with 23 points, and Gary Harris added 22 as the Nuggets outscored the Wolves 21-12 in the fourth quarter.

Brunson hired

The Wolves hired Rick Brunson as an assistant coach, and he was on the bench with coach Ryan Saunders for the team's summer league debut. Brunson served as a Bulls assistant under Tom Thibodeau and also played for Chicago. Last year, he was found not guilty in an Illinois court of charges that he sexually abused a masseuse.

Rush officially signed

The Timberwolves officially announced the signing of shooting guard/small forward Brandon Rush, the three-point shooting specialist who agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal.

Rush, 31, shot 41.4 percent on three-pointers for Golden State last season, averaging 4.2 points, 2.5 rebounds in 72 games. Rush is one of 11 active players to shoot 40 percent or better on three-pointers with at least 1,000 career attempts.

The Wolves have yet to officially announce the signing of center Cole Aldrich, who agreed to a three-year, $22 million deal last week. The team may be waiting for Aldrich to return from his vacation in Italy. He is due back Monday.
