Seven years ago, Kobe Bryant dropped 81 points in an NBA game. Ah, those were the days. Kobe, a whippersnapper at age 27, was scoring at will. Phil Jackson was coaching the Lakers, who were about to embark on seven consecutive seasons of making the playoffs, including two NBA titles. All was right with the world. Perhaps we can forgive Kobe and the Lakers, then, for wanting to relive a little of that magic -- even it doesn't exactly come at the best time.

Kobe will live tweet a viewing of his 81-point game, which is being shown at 3 p.m. today on NBATV.

These days, Kobe is a slowing-down 34 years old. He's 25 for his last 79 from the field in three consecutive frustrating losses during the Lakers' increasingly lost season (copywright Stu), which has sunk to 17-24 at the midpoint.

Maybe watching his old glory will be just the thing Kobe needs to regain his mojo.

Or maybe it will just be another sad reminder of what once was.

In any event, it should be worth following.
