Travelers should notice more Wi-Fi access soon

Getting delayed at an airport may be less of a headache in the future if you are traveling with a smartphone, laptop or tablet computer. The Federal Communications Commission said it is increasing by 35 percent the availability of high-speed wireless Internet at airports, convention centers and conference hubs. FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski announced the effort at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Famed Gettysburg building to be razed

The National Park Service announced that it will demolish the old Cyclorama building in Gettysburg, Pa., that once served as a visitor center and home to the famous Cyclorama painting of the battle. The building, which has been closed to the public since 2005, placed visitors in the center of the battlefield, which they could see through extensive windows. Despite efforts to save it, the building clashed with the effort to return the battlefield to the way it appeared in July 1863. Demolition could begin this winter.
