Candidates weigh in on Norwegian Air expansion

Hillary Clinton has jumped into the dispute over the expansion of Norwegian Air International. The subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle, one of Europe's biggest low-cost carriers, has been accused by U.S.-based carriers and their unions of skirting labor laws by establishing a base in Ireland but hiring pilots out of Asia to save money. Norwegian already flies from Norway, but a base in Ireland could open new routes between the U.S. and Europe, including at Minneapolis-St. Paul International. But Clinton's labor campaign director, Nikki Budzinski, released a statement saying that Clinton was urging the Obama administration to reject Norwegian's permit. Clinton rival Sen. Bernie Sanders also called on the federal government to deny the permit. No word yet from Donald Trump on the dispute.

Ship your luggage

Is there an easier way to get clothes, baby food, golf clubs and hiking boots to and from your destination? Consider a door-to-door luggage shipping service. Luggage Forward has been shipping clothes and sports gear for more than 10 years. It's also one of the more far-reaching players, shipping among hundreds of countries and territories, as well as to and from cruise ships and golf courses. Pack your clothes in bags the same way you would for air travel and then have Luggage Forward pick them up from you. The company will complete and submit all customs documentation. To send a standard golf bag (about 40 pounds) from Minneapolis to Miami in mid-June was $168 round trip for five-business-day shipping. Certain times of day and weekends cost more (cruise ships are an exception). This option is especially appealing for cruise lovers, golfers and those traveling internationally.

Williamsburg is everywhere

The "Where Is Williamsburg" travel app helps urban travelers find the hippest locations around the globe — or those that are most like Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. If you want to find pour-over coffee, brunch, American Apparel or a brew similar to Pabst Blue Ribbon anywhere in the world, this is your app. It's quick, it's spot-on, and if you disagree with its choices it allows you to drag the map to wherever you think "Williamsburg" is for its consideration. Once it tells you the neighborhood, you can click through four icons to figure out if that coffeehouse, bar or restaurant is right for you. It delivers cool travel options: When we clicked on Cairo, we were intrigued to know more about Zamalek even though there were no listings for pour-over coffee, brunch or American Apparel. A quick search of the neighborhood led me to descriptions and images that would satisfy a hipster's cravings. Of course, the app is available only for Apple users.
