Speculation has begun on who might replace Kill as head coach. Here are a few of the names:

Tracy Claeys, Minnesota interim coach/defensive coordinator: The Gophers went 4-3 when Claeys was acting coach two years ago, and he offers continuity in the program.

Rod Carey, Northern Illinois coach: He is 28-9 in three seasons leading the Huskies.

Dave Aranda, Wisconsin defensive coordinator: Aranda once again has the Badgers among the best defenses in the Big Ten.

Pete Lembo, Ball State coach: He went 25-13 in his first three seasons but is headed for a second consecutive losing year.

Troy Calhoun, Air Force coach: He is 63-47 in nine seasons at Air Force and has a diverse background that includes time in the NFL.

Matt Campbell, Toledo coach: He is 35 years old and in the middle of potentially his best season with the Rockets, 7-0 and ranked No. 20.

Ed Warinner, Ohio State offensive coordinator: The No. 1 Buckeyes are among the nation's leaders in many offensive categories.
