Police arrested two juveniles Tuesday evening after they boarded a Metro Transit bus in north Minneapolis carrying toy guns and causing "some alarm" among the passengers, authorities said Wednesday.

People at a bus stop at 35th and Fremont Avenues N. reported late Tuesday afternoon seeing the juveniles with replica rifles, which fire plastic projectiles, a transit spokesman said. The witnesses called police.

Passengers also called authorities when the suspects boarded the southbound Route 5 bus about 5:45 p.m. The two were arrested a few blocks later by Metro Transit police and Minneapolis police, said Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland.

The suspects were taken to the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center and cited for carrying replica guns. They now are not allowed to ride Metro Transit buses for one month, Siqveland said.

No one was injured, but the incident "created some alarm among passengers," Siqveland said.
