Kids — get ready. The Loppet Games, in their fourth year, are Oct. 24 at the beach in Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis.

"The Loppet Games really illustrate the mission of The Loppet Foundation, which encourages everyone — every age and demographic — to just get outside and create that shared passion for year-round outdoor adventure, and really enjoy the Wirth Park system," said Emily Eastman, the foundation's scholarship and marketing manager. "Our Loppet Games bring the youth out for a day of fun, friendly adventure in the park."

The games are intended as a fun challenge for youth in The Loppet's nordic racing programs, but all children ages 8 to 13 are encouraged to sign-up. The games are made up of four competitions: an adventure race (two-person team); obstacle course; strength test; and orienteering. The games will conclude with a relay-style obstacle course for competitors and their parents or mentors. There will be awards by age group. Register for $15 online at loppet.org by Oct. 22.
