Good morning, commuters!

West metro drivers have been dealing with the impact of road construction for the past few weeks. Today, east metro drivers get a slight taste of that.

Southbound I-35E has been reduced to two lanes from Little Canada Road down to Maryland Avenue. Tonight, more lane switches and ramp closures go into effect, so get ready for the traffic pinch.

The changes are all related to the MnPASS project, which is adding a carpool lane on 35E between downtown St. Paul and Little Canada Road.

Over in the west metro, congestion on Hwy. 100 and I-494 has been light until about 7 a.m. After that, plan on spending time stuck in traffic. As a note, the ramp from Hwy. 7 to northbound Hwy.100 is closed, as is the ramp from Minnetonka Blvd.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
