Good morning, commuters!

We have been hearing about it for a while, an now the closure of southbound Hwy. 169 between the Crosstown and Valley View Road is in place. Traffic is being diverted to Hwy. 212 to I-494. Northbound lanes are open.

Lakeville drivers are getting a reprieve on the road work scheduled between County Roads 60 and 50. That road work has yet to kick in.

The other big story is the rain. That will likely slow down the drive to work. Hydroplaning is a possibility as water is collecting on the roads.

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
