The Village Voice's annual Pazz and Jop Poll of the nation's music critics chose West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" as top album and Green's "Forget You" as top single of 2010. A total of 708 critics voted. The Pazz and Jop Poll, which started in 1971, is considered the most authoritative and comprehensive critics survey of popular music. More than one third of the voters – specifically 266 – named West's album on their ballots. Green received the support of 187 critics. For albums, critics were asked to divide 100 points among 10 choices, with no disc receiving more than 30 or less than 5 points. For singles, voters merely listed their choices without weighing them. "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" earned nearly twice as many points as runnerup "This Is Happening" by LCD Soundsystem – 3,250 to 1,634. The highest ranking Twin Cities' recording was Dessa's "A Badly Broken Code" at No. 118 on the album list, with mentions from eight voters. Jeremy Messersmith's "Reluctant Graveyard" rated No. 277, with four mentions. Discs by Retribution Gospel Choir and Gayngs also were among the 1,844 albums – yes, that's correct – that received votes. While Green topped the singles voting, West's singles ranked 4th, 5th and 6th. The critics do love them some Kanye. Nearly 2,100 singles made the list, with more than 1,400 receiving just one vote.
