What about Byrd, though? Why do they never mention Byrd?

Actually, it's Hawkins-Byrd, first name Petri. He was Judge Judy's court officer in real life; also gas a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from John Jay. And he shot a man in the third season for insisting that "um" was, indeed, an answer, contrary to the Judge's instructions. They've never shown that episode.

Okay, that didn't happen, but unlike Rusty the bailiff on "People's Court," who gave off a broad Fife-vibe despite his size, you can see Byrd using his piece. Anyway, more Judge Judy is a good thing, although you wonder how they keep finding people willing to put up with the abuse. It's almost as if they're compensated for their humiliation somehow.
