« We continue to refine and perfect our team-based model — integrated care, everyone working together — to drive the highest quality of care at the lowest cost. » Dr. John Noseworthy, CEO Mayo Clinic

About Noseworthy: A neurologist specializing in multiple sclerosis, he came to the Mayo Clinic in 1990. He has been leading the $8.5 billion nonprofit hospital system since 2009.

Personal file: He earned his medical degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and did his residency and internship in Canada. He and wife, Patricia, who is Canadian, have two sons, Peter and Mark, and a golden retriever, Sam.

What's big in 2014: The Mayo Clinic is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and setting in motion a 20-year, $6 billion building boom around its Rochester headquarters. The project envisions a Mayo Clinic that is twice its current size that will serve as an economic catalyst for Minnesota.

Final word: "We decided a year ago that the Mayo Clinic would begin to share what we're doing to create the future of health care. … If we're going to have a good health care system in this country, it's got to be trusted and affordable. You've got to deal with these issues of fragmentation and uneven quality — and here are the innovations that we're doing to try to make that happen for our patients. … We really feel it's time to lead on this."

Some say the MAHA movement and GLP-1 drugs hurt sugar beet farmers. The White House is blaming former President Joe Biden.
