I opened strong last week, coming out of the blocks with a 16-4 record. I will take that every week, but I will not expect that every week. As you know, this is a take-no-prisoners proposition.

We've got one matchup of Top 10 teams this week, and I'm picking No. 3 Wayzata to beat No. 7 Minnetonka. The way Wayzata looked last week, No. 3 might not be high enough, but let's see how things shake out. I'm planning to watch No. 2 Cretin-Derham Hall this week and No. 1 Eden Prairie next week, which should give me some insight into the top of the pack. There are lots of good matchups in the ever-dangerous "Other Games" category, which is pockmarked with 11 land mines. How will formerly ranked Lakeville South respond from last week's loss to Eagan when the Cougars meet Bloomington Jefferson? Can St. Michael-Albertville, a week after edging Becker, get past Buffalo in another big Mississippi 8 game? And what to make of Hutchinson? The Tigers, who were viewed as the team to beat in the Missota, got thumped by Glencoe-Silver Lake in the opener and face Farmington this week. Onward!
